First, credit. My edited images were taken primarily from the Rurouni Kenshin Archive, especially its manga section. I would link to it, but it no longer exists. Others, featured in the gallery, came from the Akabeko (linked below.) A couple from the body of the page came from Laura-chan's Kenshin Creative Center (linked below), the Kenshin Gallery (site's been taken down,) or the Kamiya Dojo (linked below.) Character profile information was gathered from various sources on the web for the sake of corroboration, but the Kamiya Dojo is the first one that springs to mind as having a profile. Blood type info also came from various sources, in this case because the information can vary wildly. (I had to provide a couple of different pages to a friend because she didn't like the way some of them described her blood type's temperament.) If I can relocate any of these blood type links, they'll go up too. The font used is Pussycat by Font-a-licious. These links are simply my picks from around the web, and in no particular order.
Now the actual links...
Resources - Info, Images, Files
The Rurouni Kenshin Cross - Why does this site get bumped all the way up to the top? Because it's a *good* general-info site, and general-info sites that I consider good are freakin' rare. Most people think "informational" means "dull, factual, devoid of opinion or speculation or writing talent." I was particularly impressed with the character section.
The Rurouni Kenshin Shrine - The music is no longer downloadable, though I'm not so sure about the Winamp skins and so forth. Still, it can be handy - it has information on the CDs
The Kamiya Dojo
Loads of images with a Kenshin and Kaoru section amongst them. Plus it gives an exact birthdate for Kaoru. Yay! Lately, however, it seems to make my browser crash, which is a damn shame since it's now expanding into fanworks. Sigh.
Kenshin's Rurouni Resource Center
Gack. Most of the links are broken. I'm leaving the link up, but I doubt the site will do you much good.
Maigo-chan's Ruroken Translations
Maigo-chan has probably the best RK translations on the web, and they're actually readable without the manga at hand - I find this very handy for volumes I haven't been able to buy.
Tanuki's Garden
This very possibly lives up to its aspiration of being "the definitive web reference for everything Tanuki." Helped much in fixing my assumptions about what tanuki-musume means.
Creative Stuff
The Akabeko
The Akabeko's so cool! Another quote generator, this time allowing you to interact with various RK characters. You can be guided through the restaurant by Tae, Yahiko or Tsubame, each of whom has a different approach to the job. You can also be kicked out by Kenshin, Kaoru, or Sano, you can drink with Sano, you can read some really good fanfics, it's another Kaoru-friendly site... heh. It's just cool.
Rurouni Kenshin Creative Center
The site's primarily about the downloadables, creative things (GOOD fanart! Praise the gods!) and such, but there is an image gallery. This page is maintained by the same person who used to run the Ranma and Akane Shrine, so I'm automatically biased, but besides all that it's very well-done, and has images I've seen nowhere else. And a Kenshin and Kaoru section in the gallery. Are you maybe detecting a theme? I just try to ignore the Tomoe section.
Yumi's Journal
Very well-done romantic fanfics, some with lemon content. "Heart's Ease" is a personal favorite. These are possibly my favorite fanfics ever, and certainly the best lemons I've ever read.
Character Shrines
.kamiya.kaoru.
The web's other Kaoru shrine, I've been very remiss in not linking to it till now. Gomen gomen!
Kenjutsu Komachi
I was wrong... there's another! About time the Kaoru shrines started turning up. I've heard people claim she's overshrined, which is only true if you think she deserves none at all.
makimachi
As you could probably guess from the title, this is a Misao shrine. I love the layout, and it's more content-based than the other Misao shrines I've seen.
Misao the Weasel Girl Shrine
Not heavy on the content, but it has plenty of other stuff to make up for it.
Sanosuke!
Comprehensive and well-designed, this is probably the best Sano shrine in existence - plus, it's opinionated. Yay! If for some reason you really like Sayo, though, you might want to be wary.
Futae no Kiwami
Not as in-depth as Sanosuke!, but fairly well-designed, and I like the willingness to entertain yaoi pairings. Warning: has an auto-load midi on the front page
The Fox Lady's Den
While I disagree with the webmistress on Kaoru, it's still a good shrine. (See, I can be unbiased. Sorta.) She also makes some good points as to why she likes the vixen.
Tsubame & Yahiko
I guess it's a couple shrine, but it's set up almost like a combo shrine instead, so... treat it as a shrine to both. Still under construction, though.
The Enishi Shrine
You HAVE to check out the advice column. This is more devoted to fannishness than information, but so is my own site, so obviously I don't think there's anything wrong with that.
Fallen Sakura
It's a Kenshin x Tomoe shrine. But it's different from most Tomoe sites! For one thing, it's well-designed, and for another, the webmistress supports Kaoru. I wish more Tomoe fans were like her.
Mibu no Ookami
A wonderful Saitou shrine... the fanworks section would be a site in its own right! And did I mention the layout? Gads.
The Battousai Shrine
This is a good source of information on a part of the series many people don't know much about. Kenshin's past doesn't do much for me personally, but don't let that stop you.
To Soar Like a Dragon
A shrine after my own heart. Namely, it focuses more on the Rurouni than the Battousai, and favors Kaoru. I never said I wasn't obsessive.
The Soujiro Shrine
A VERY in-depth Soujiro shrine. Complete with episode guide. Damn. I feel inadequate.
